Antiques

I was walking around the city this weekend and popped into some antique shops. I found this one I just LOVED. I wanted everything in it. They had everything I could ever want from old craft supplies to household items, dresses, furniture. I've moved a lot in the last two years so more than ever I'm into decorating a {small} place and making it my own.

[ this weekend's inspiration ]

...this weekend's inspiration just surfaced from an itch I've had all summer to PAINT old things. I've been painting frames and I have two small dressers that I need to get up the energy/time to paint as well . I saw some adorable nesting tables and wooden chairs that just made me want to paint, so I'm keeping my eye out for some future projects. I want a new set of dining chairs!

Shop Update

As some of you may know, I've been on a hiatus from my Etsy shop, thehangingflower photography for some time now.
I have some new things to show & want to start again soon.
I am also likely closing or going on a vacation from my Etsy vintage shop.
I love vintage & fashion, but I realized that I don't have the time, energy, or experience to make the shop as great as it should be. I'll continue searching and collecting things, & plan to start again later.
Selling vintage is a great way for me to earn extra money while going to school, but my real love is arts & crafts, so I'd like to put my efforts back into my old shop.

What do you think of me combining my photo greeting cards & small prints with cute craft sets & maybe even vintage craft/sewing supplies, and later on other creations as I see fit.... ?

I think it will all be cohesive & clean looking, but I'm not sure if people who liked my shop as it was last year will like this shift, or would prefer a different shop all together (I don't really have time to do all that right now)

...Things to think about!

Weekend Inspiration: Independence Day!

If you still don't have everything together for the 4th of july weekend celebrations, it's okay! Here I have what you need for dessert, decorations, and even a potential outfit. Enjoy!

lovely raspberry & blueberry cupcakes from the book cupcakes that I baked the other day. I'd say it was a success but I'm just not the biggest fan of fruit in my cake, you know? It was more like a muffin with a sweet whipped topping. my boyfriend LOVES blueberries though and we decided it would be a perfect 4th of july treat.
if you're dressing up for the holiday, this striped mini and wedges would be perfect! I love that it's festive but not over the top.

Put some white carnations in them and you have a festive centerpiece. :)

Summer time [in the fashion world]

...to me means light colors, pretty patterns, and flattering styles. I'm falling victim to the rising trend of vintage inspired florals, lace, and ruffles.
